Course Description
In this fun online workshop participants will explore drawing and painting techniques with the aim to represent people in an expressive and individualistic manner.
This class is ideal for students who are interested in experimenting with different media through the practice of portraiture, working from your own inspiration photographs.
We will start the session by looking at example artworks for inspiration followed by a practical tutorial by Flora (your tutor) then on to drawing and painting practice used for the day.
All skill levels are welcome to this class and guidance will be given at all stages.
Syllabus
Feb. 25th (1st session): Showing Motion – Charcoal
March 4th (2nd session): Showing Motion – Acrylic
March 11th (3rd session): Acrylic on Wallpaper on Patterned Background
March 18th (4th session): Expressive Colour – Inks
March 25th (5th session): Portrait in the Style of … ‘Your fave artist’
Materials
You’ll need a few basic materials for the course:
Drawing Materials
- Charcoal
- Charcoal pencils or conte (optional)
- Pencil
- Paper (multiple media, thick paper)
- Board (so support your paper)
- Eraser
- Paper towels / tissue
Painting Materials
- Black & coloured inks
- Acrylic paints
- Brushes (variety of sizes)
- Water container
- Palette
- Tissue paper
- Paper or canvas
- Comfortable old clothes to work in
Optional
- Easel
- Table cloth to protect table
Zoom
The sessions will be hosted through Zoom.
Please download the Zoom app. If you haven’t zoomed before don’t worry, it’s not complicated. A little blue camera symbol will pop up on your phone, pad and laptop.
You’ll find the Zoom link for the sessions on the booking ticket AND I will send you the link via email that will take you directly to the sessions (no password required) on the day of the workshop.
I will start the session 15mins before the official start of the workshop. This will give us an opportunity to iron out any technical difficulties if there are any and have a chat 🙂
