We find ourselves in a world we never imagined, these are indeed challenging times! In The Silver Lining – Art Club, each week we will come together to explore themes and use art making as a tool to better understand ourselves and reflect on the world we find ourselves in.

This course is all about exploration! It’s a mixture of art class/ art club/ sketch club. We will delve into our memories, annoyances and tribute to the present

This course is also great for anyone looking to gain confidence in their art practice. You’ll learn ways to approach your own art making when working independently and not in a class setting. I will be setting up a Whatsapp group or Facebook group (whichever your group prefers) where we can share inspiration, ideas and thoughts throughout the week.

At the end of the course you will have a capsule body of work and record of these mad times – that you can share with your grandchildren or younger generations someday 😉

Syllabus:

March 4th: Earth

March 11th: Wind / Sky /Space

March 18th: Water

March 25th: Fire

Multimedia: You are welcome to use whatever media you would like!

Pre-class Prep: Each week you will have a small task to prepare either photographs or subjects to use as inspiration for class. You are welcome to give this as much thought as you’d like – you don’t need to spend hours doing this! If you have 10 mins to spare outside of class this is enough.

Drawing Materials

• Charcoal
• Charcoal pencils or conte (optional)
• Pencil
• Coloured pencils
• Coloured Pastels
• Paper (multiple media, thick paper)
• Board (so support your paper)
• Eraser
• Paper towels / tissue
• Scissors
• Exacto knife
• PVA glue or stick glue

Painting Materials

• Acrylic paints
• Watercolour
• Gouache
• Brushes (variety of sizes)
• Water container
• Tape
• Palette
• Tissue paper
• Scrap paper (print paper or sheet music from book, coloured paper, black paper)
• Comfortable old clothes to work in

Optional

• Easel
• Table cloth to protect table

Zoom

The sessions will be hosted through Zoom.

Please download the Zoom app. If you haven’t zoomed before don’t worry, it’s not complicated. A little blue camera symbol will pop up on your phone, pad and laptop.

You’ll find the Zoom link for the sessions on the booking ticket AND I will send you the link via email that will take you directly to the sessions (no password required) on the day of the workshop.

I will start the first session 10 mins before the official start of the workshop. This will give us an opportunity to iron out any technical difficulties if there are any and have a chat

*Class cancelation: I will let you know 3x days before the start date of the class if the minimum number of participants required for the class to run hasn’t been met and reimburse
